Content and overview

This course starts with an overview of traditional business plans and how they are supposed to help you run a business. We will then explore more pragmatic ways of creating a business plan that is practical and easy to use in the day-to-day running of your business. No more hours of writing cumbersome business plan documents that are difficult to navigate. You will learn how to create a business plan that is creative, adaptable, and dynamic.

You will learn financial forecasting for your freelance business in practice and the importance of creating monthly financial forecasts so that you can make informed business decisions. You will learn how to budget, estimate your business costs, do cash flow forecasts and create cash flow statements. You will explore how these can be used to make good business decisions.

Are you struggling to bring in enough income? Do you work long hours and do not have enough time to manage your business? During the course, you will learn how to calculate your hourly rate and its impact on your business in the long term if not calculated accurately. You will have the opportunity to consider whether charging an hourly rate reflects the value you are bringing to your clients. You will learn the basic principles of value-based pricing for your work and how this can be done in practice.

In this course, you will look into strategic marketing for your freelance conservation or consultancy business and learn how to position yourself and use different tactics to increase demand for your services.
